Things to Do

Whatever time of year you are visiting, there is so much to see and do, from beautiful beaches and hidden coves to historic castles and stately homes. The list is endless!
Here are some ideas close to Glasfor and Trearddur Bay and some further afield.

Attractions

There are some fantastic days out for all the family, including historic attractions, like Beaumaris and Penrhyn Castles and Plas Newydd stately home, nature reserves such as Cemlyn and Newborough Warren and fun filled parks like Greenwood Forest Park and Foel Farm Park.

Beaches

Fabulous beaches are right on your doorstep and all over Anglesey. The main beach at Trearddur Bay is a beautiful blue flag sandy beach, perfect for buckets and spades and swimming. Children will love paddling and splashing about with dinghies and body boards. The rock pools are great fun to explore and surf conditions can be very good too. Kayaking and Stand up Paddleboarding are also popular and great fun. In addition to the main beach, there are charming coves to explore.

Water Activities

'Glasfor' is ideally placed for taking to the water for canoeing, sailing, jet skiing, stand-up paddleboarding, sea kayaking, boating and coasteering. The Trearddur Bay Sailing Club hosts a regatta each summer. Diving is thought to be some of the best in the UK with wrecks and reefs to explore. At nearby Rhosneigr, you will find the local surfing centre with its own surf and kite surf schools.

Fishing

There is some fantastic fishing nearby. You can take an offshore trip on a charter fishing boat from Trearddur Bay or fish direct from the shore and rocks. You could also try one of the inland lakes and reservoirs on the island.

Cycling

Trearddur Bay is ideal for getting on your bike with family friendly routes as well as more challenging rides.

Nature and Walking

Anglesey is a nature lovers and walkers paradise. Most of the coast and a third of the island has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and includes 3 sections of Heritage Coastline – North Anglesey, Holyhead Mountain and Aberffraw Bay. There are lots of walks to suit all abilities on the island and lovely walks around Trearddur Bay. 'Glasfor' is very close to the Anglesey Coastal Path, a 125 mile footpath following the dramatic coastline and providing fantastic views.

Golf

Golfers can choose from two courses near the holiday house - the informal 9 hole course at Trearddur Bay’s Beach Golf Club (just around the corner from 'Glasfor'), or the more challenging 18 hole championship course up the road at Holyhead Golf Club.

Day trips to Dublin

You can even catch a ferry to Dublin from the nearby port in Holyhead. Irish Ferries and Stena Line offer daily crossings and the Irish Ferries fast ferry “Jonathan Swift” can transport you to Dublin in just under 2 hours.

Horse Riding

Horse riding is available within about half an hour drive of Trearddur Bay at Brynsiencyn on the Menai Strait.

South Stack Cliffs RSPB Reserve

South Stack Cliffs RSPB reserve is a nature reserve, run by the RSPB, on Holy Island on the North West coast of Anglesey, Wales. The reserve is on sea cliffs facing the islet of South Stack, and is crossed by the Anglesey Coastal Path. There is an information centre based in Elin's Tower in the reserve.
